Welcome to DigiDetox. This policy outlines our absolute commitment to data privacy, local-only processing, and the specific ways we utilize Android system features to enhance your digital wellbeing.

Zero Server & No Data Storage Policy

DigiDetox operates entirely without central servers. We do not collect, store, or monitor your data remotely because we do not own a database to put it in.

No Cloud Uploads: Your screen time stats, app limits, and location data never leave your local environment.
Privacy by Design: 100% of your data belongs to you and is stored exclusively in your device's private storage.
No Third-Party Tracking: We do not use advertising IDs or tracking SDKs that send information to external entities.

1. Foreground Services & Core Functionality

To provide reliable 24/7 monitoring and real-time synchronization across devices, DigiDetox utilizes Android Foreground Services. These services display a persistent notification to ensure you are always aware the app is active and working.

App Monitoring Service

Type: dataSync | specialUse

This service allows DigiDetox to monitor foreground app activity and enforce your digital limits continuously. It ensures that when a restricted app is opened, the app can immediately intervene to help you stay focused. This service is designed to run 24/7 without being interrupted by the system.

WiFi Sync Service

Type: dataSync | specialUse

This service maintains a local peer-to-peer server to facilitate the real-time syncing of parental control rules and usage statistics between a "Parent" device and a "Child" device. This ensures the devices stay updated without requiring an internet connection or any external server.

2. Accessibility Service API

DigiDetox uses the Accessibility Service API for its core "Focus" features. This permission is essential for:

Feature Detection: Identifying when a user navigates to specific distracting sections of an app (e.g., "Shorts" or "Reels").
Enforcement: Displaying a blocking overlay over restricted content to prevent unauthorized usage.
Local Safety: All detection logic happens in real-time within the device's memory. We do not record your screen, keystrokes, or messages.

3. Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS)

We use the Usage Access permission to accurately calculate your screen time. This data is used solely to generate the charts in your dashboard and stays stored in a private local database on your phone.

4. Location & Geofencing

When Geofencing is enabled, DigiDetox requests Background Location Access. This is used only to notify a paired parent device when the child enters or exits a predefined safe zone. Location data is shared only between your paired devices over WiFi and is never transmitted to us.

5. Peer-to-Peer Synchronization

All communication between Parent and Child devices happens directly over your local WiFi network. This ensures your settings and usage stats remain private and never travel across the public internet.

6. Security & Data Ownership

Your Parental PIN and Recovery Question answers are hashed and stored locally. Since we do not have servers, we cannot recover or reset your PIN if it is forgotten.
